Effective October 2014 The Cigarmy has gone dormant, and acts only as an archive for historical cigar news. All new content is being posted at Half Ashed, including the podcast, written reviews/articles, and forum. Join us over there for the new and improved – and singular – media outlet!
So…what about The Cigarmy ? The Cigarmy is just a bunch of my cohorts – guys who REALLY like cigars. A small army of cigar enthusiasts that can be found on one of our patios any given night of the year. It’s also a blog/media outlet about all things tobacco, featuring regular posts of honest reviews, news, legislative updates and other industry happenings in the world of premium cigars…or whatever falls from my wandering mind on a particular day. I don’t claim to have any magical powers for reviewing cigars – I just call it the way I see it, and describe my experience while smoking them. In the early days, I did not assign numerical ratings for cigars under review, but have since rethought this process into what it is today. If you head over to the current guidelines at Half Ashed, you can see exactly what is involved in a review around here. I believe I currently have a quite workable system, featuring as much objectivity as is possible with a product carrying such subjectivity. That being said, I still put in the time and effort to produce an extensive, in-depth written review as well. I believe both facets are valuable in seeking out that “Holy Grail” smoke for which we all search.
I’m not looking to make a living from a website – I never solicit free stuff for review. Samples are accepted, but are always disclosed within the context of the review and never impact the result. Except when posted otherwise, everything I review is purchased by me at any of a growing number of local brick & mortar tobacconists. I originally happened to have access to some bandwidth and hosting space, and thought I’d put it to good use. I enjoy sharing my experiences with cigars, and love to hear from others as well. So if you’re still reading, the invitation is open to light up and hang out, or shoot me an email or quick comment here on the site. I’ll try to stay somewhat current and post at least once or twice each week, but I’m not making any promises – I’ve got cigars to smoke!
I also do the Half Ashed Cigar Podcast with my brilliant co-host Craig Schneider. We’d love for you to join us live for the show!
