The Cigar Family Celebration 2013

Cigar Family Charitable FoundationSome of you may remember that for the past two years I have been fortunate enough to go to the Dominican Republic and visit Chateau de la Fuente, the Fuente factory, and the CigarFamily Charitable Foundation for CFC (CigarFamily Celebration).  Yesterday, the plans for the next event were publicly announced and published.  I wanted to share the news with you all as well.  I will be returning for the event, as will a few of my cohorts.  If you have the availability I highly recommend it. The people are amazing, the cigars are incredible, and most importantly, this trip showcases the CigarFamily Charitable Foundation. One visit to see the Foundation in action, and you’ll be convinced.  This is a great chance to see the heart and goodwill from within the cigar industry, and the work that goes on to help the people of Bonao is remarkable. Even if you can’t do this trip, the Foundation is certainly worthy of any contribution you may be able to make. 100% of the donations received go to educating and nourishing the kids and their families; the Foundation’s overhead is covered by the Fuente & Newman families. It’s a very transparent and honorable organization that actually meets some physical needs for the people in a very impoverished area.  The cost of the event is $295, which covers the costs associated with the Cigar Family Celebration – and as such is not a donation to the Foundation and is not tax deductible**.  The trip is scheduled for January 30th through February 1st.  For the second year, there is an optional Service Day (January 30th) where “Volunteers will be able to assemble water filters and package food bags for people from the surrounding communities in need.  These water filters are simple to assemble and provide clean and safe drinking water to entire families. Each food bag we create has enough supplies to feed a family of four nutritious meals for 10 days at the wholesale price of $20!”  You can find more information by clicking the bottom image below or by CLICKING HERE.  You can also check out our trip report and pictures from CFC2012 and CFC2011

    • It really is an incredible trip. This will be our third trip down, and we’re more impressed every time by the amazing work that the Foundation does. It really speaks to the heart of the Fuente & Newman families. It’s a good, good thing.
